Brazilian Cultural Forum from Rio de Janeiro
Rio Forum talks about Brazilian cultural visibility production
Rio de Janeiro will be holding the Brazilian Cultural Forum at SESC Tijuca, on May 19 and 21, a preparatory forum to the International Cultural Forum. Representatives of the area, theoreticians, politicians, businessmen, public and private administrators linked to the sector of all regions of the country will meet in order to discuss and customize ideas and proposals, which will be presented during the International Global Culture Forum. Focus of discussions will be given to the paths to peace through culture.
Forum in Rio de Janeiro should reflect, promote and verbalize amongst other aims the diversity of Brazilian cultural production with the participation of the most important cultural agents and specialists of the sector. Such a meeting should consolidate the results produced by the different Regional Forum, taking place from October 2003 to now days, discussing common proposals of cooperation between regions. There will also be several simultaneous teleconferences at the workshops, which will be happening in Rio.
Brazilian Cultural Forum will discuss the following themes and sub themes:

Artistic Program
May 19th
- Reading of the poem "E agora José" by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, by Rogério Froes
- Live show with Dona Ivone Lara and Teresa Cristrina accompanied by Semente
Group.
May 20th
- Maria da Graça (opening show) - shows and performances of a women's group dressed as clowns expressing the everyday female world.
- Leo Gandelman - Saxophonist and composer presenting some of his best hits.
- Chorinho da Feira - 'Choro`s" group introducing Inês Perdigão at the cavaquinho (small guitar), Marcelo Bernardes at the flute, and friends, playing every Saturday at Laranjeira`s open market in Rio, will be presenting its classical repertoire in the best carioca style.
- Cortège Brincante Abayomi - Abayomi Cooperative craftswomen group will be presenting a cheerful cortege, an assembly of artistic expressions based on Afro-Brazilian tradition. Women of various generations move their skirts employing poetry, recipes and white cursing, singing work, lullaby and praise songs. Public is called to participate to the performance and it ends up with a "ciranda".
May 21st
- Poetry with Emanuel Marinho, poet and improviser from Eldorado, Estate of Mato Grosso do Sul.
- Brothers Brother - Group of comic actors and acrobats mixing in their performances circus, theater and dance elements.
- Chico Lobo - one of the most active guitar players of the actual generation extremely involved with root music, revealing all his Brazilian popular culture experience. Chico Lobo will be presenting his guitar hits influenced by different feasts from the Estate of Minas Gerais.
- Homage to the "Teatro de Revista" (vaudeville) with Carvalhinho and stars Virgínia Lane and Tânia Mara.
- Afro-reggae (closing show) - Musicians coming from Favela de Vigário Geral mixing funk with other rhythms.

8 pm - Opening ceremony with the presence of Arnaldo Nisker, Estate Cultural Secretary to the State of Rio de Janeiro, Danilo Santos de Miranda, Chairman of the Board of Directors - Regional Director of SESC São Paulo, mongst others.
