Authorities officially open the World Cultural
Fórum at the Municipal Theatre
 With
the presence of the president Luiz Inácio
Lula da Silva, the Global Convention, main
event of the World Cultural Forum, was opened
last Tuesday (29), at the Municipal Theatre
in São Paulo.The authorities were
welcomed by the chairman of the Forum´s
board of directors: Danilo Santos de Miranda
The night started with the poem "And
what now, José?" - main ground
for the Forum´s discussions - sang
in rap-like rhythms by the actor Edson Montenegro
with street-dance performance by two ballet
dancers from São Paulo´s Municipal
ballet company.Then, the National anthen
was interpreted by Inezita Barroso followed
by Pereira da Viola.
 Shortly
after that, São Paulo´s Secretary
for Culture: Celso Fratesque, held the role
of Master of Ceremonies of the night inviting
onto the stage ,in the following order ,
president Lula, governor Alckmin, mayor
Marta, and the ministers Gilberto Gil, Danilo
Santos de Miranda, and Carlos Lopes,UN representative.
At the beginning of his speech, the president
made a funny remark towards Ruy Cezar, director
president of Via Magia, saying that he didn´t
know whether Ruy remembered that they had
already met in 1976 when Lula was a member
of the Metal Worker´s Union and Ruy
was the president of UNE (The National Student´s
Alliance) : "I´m olny mentioning
that to check whether Ruy remembers me or
not", joked the president.
The night was brought to and end by the
outstanding Samwaad performance by Ivaldo
Bertazzo, which was warmly applauded. Many
important personalities were there: Ruth
Escobar, Sergio Mamberti, Jorge Cunha Lima,
Antônio Grassi, Celine Imbert, Ulda
Bittencourt, Milu Vilela amongst others.
