Arqueologias do Futuro
[Archaeologies of the Future]

The artist Mauricio Lima brings together experienced and made-up memories from his childhood and teen years living in Complexo do Alemão, in Rio de Janeiro, to create this performance. By crossing this material with testimonial video pieces with young people from the Museu dos Meninos project, his work questions what the body says, what bodies are seen and heard, and who has the right to tell their own stories. Creating a political-poetic mosaic of image and sound, he points to the potency of life and future—not what is to come, but what already is—of living, moving bodies. 

Museu dos Meninos is a transdisciplinary platform created by Maurício Lima in collaboration with several artists. It investigates and develops art procedures by mapping, collecting, and preserving black memories.  

MaurÍcio Lima is an actor and performer. His authorial work creates tensions over ethnic-aesthetic matters related to contemporary and peripheral blacknesses, memories, fabulation, and performance.  

Dadado de Freitas is a stage artist. He holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Art and Culture from UERJ, and his research is focused on enacting, performance, politics, and the presence of dissident bodies.
