Idosos e animais: uma relação de pelos, rugas e carinho

Resumo
O presente artigo busca expor os benefícios da relação entre animais e idosos por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica de artigos, estudos, pesquisas, projetos e notícias que abordam essa interação e relataram seus benefícios em diferentes contextos. Diante da variedade de públicos-alvo, objetivos e análises, os resultados e as conclusões dos estudos e notícias foram divididos em três tópicos: solidão e toque; companhia e saúde mental; Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPI) e Intervenções Assistidas por Animais (IAA). O artigo não se propõe a apresentar a relação com animais como uma solução para o isolamento dos idosos, mas, sim, elucidar os benefícios dessa interação e trazer um novo olhar sobre como animais podem ser benéficos para essa população.

Abstract
This paper intends to expose the benefits of the relationship between animals and the elderly through a literature review of articles, studies, research, projects and news that address this interaction and reported the benefits of it in different contexts. Given the variety of target audiences, objectives and analyses, the results and conclusions of the studies and news were divided into three topics: solitude and touch; company and mental health; Long-Term Care Institutions for the Elderly and Animal-Assisted Interventions. This paper does not propose to present the relationship with animals as a solution for the isolation of the elderly, but rather to elucidate the benefits of this interaction and bring a new look at how animals can be beneficial for this population.
